Have you ever dreamed of leaving the hustle and bustle of city life behind and embracing a simpler, more self-reliant, sustainable lifestyle? Well, that's exactly what we did when we embarked on our homestead adventure on 40 acres in southern Ohio.

Leaving behind the convenience of city living and moving away from family and friends was not an easy decision, but the pull of living in the country and embracing self-sustainable practices has always been a dream of ours. We wanted to disconnect from the chaos and reconnect with nature. And that's what we did. We were greeted by the vastness of the land and the tranquility that surrounded us. It was a stark contrast to the noise and congestion of the city. The cabin, nestled among the trees, became our sanctuary.

When we first moved into our home it was still under construction, as we were putting an addition to the existing cabin, along with ALL utilities. It has been very stressful and definitely a learning process. Due to some issues with supplies we are still "under construction". We have all the amenities to survive so we are not complaining, just taking longer than expected. We've also experienced a set back as Shane had knee surgery and then developed a blood clot. Thankfully, he is recovering and is starting rehab soon so he can get back to normal. Really what I'm saying is he can get back to projects soon!!

Living in a cabin half the size of our previous home also meant embracing a more minimalist lifestyle. We had to downsize and declutter, keeping only what was essential. It was liberating to let go of material possessions and focus on what truly mattered.

Of course, living in the country also presented its challenges. We had to learn how to deal with wildlife encounters, maintaining infrastructures, limited access to amenities, internet issues, weather extremes, and isolation. But these challenges only made us more resilient and appreciative of the simple joys of life. Despite these challenges we have found a church family, a sense of community, peace, and purpose.

We have so many plans so STAY TUNED!!!!

If you've ever dreamed of escaping the city and embracing a more self-sustainable lifestyle, I encourage you to take the leap. It may be a challenging path, but the freedom and fulfillment that await you are worth it.
